Geneva is very into Princesses. She has the name of every Disney Princess down pat even though she’s only seen Cinderella and a very select 20 minutes of Snow White. Cinderella is, of course, her favorite. And she begged us for a Cinderella themed 3rd birthday party.
The party was a family affair. Geneva’s great-grandmother sent [...]
the Jesse Tree - our favorite Christmas tradition
Posted in Holidays, art & crafts & home things, discipleship, the Father's teaching on Dec 29th, 2009
Looking ahead to next year Christmas, here’s a craft project that all you moms can start on now and maybe have for advent 2010! This is the Jesse Tree, a Christmas advent calendar tracing Jesus’ earthly heritage (recorded in Matthew and Luke). From Isaiah 11:1 “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump [...]
My dad and step-mom Mary came to Colorado Springs for a nine day Christmas visit this year! We had a great time together, and thought it’d be special to take some professional pictures to remember our fun Christmas! Here are some highlights from the Baumgardner photo shoot:

Christmas joys

She is SO one of my very FAVORITE things.
Geneva gets a new ornament every year, usually representing something from that year. This year she got a hand painted green nutcracker from Germany. For some reason this year she’s become really enthusiastic about Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. She can watch the ballet performance over and over and over (we skip the rats, obviously). She’s getting [...]
This fall Michael’s dad was offered a new job in Washington D.C., so after 40+ years in Los Alamos, NM, the Franciscos packed up, sold their house (PTL!), and made the massive move to Northern Virginia!! They graciously and generously flew us all out to see them for Thanksgiving!!!!! What a treat!! We loved seeing [...]
Fall Fun at the Farm
Posted in Colorado living, Holidays on Dec 22nd, 2009
We discovered a great little farm in the outskirts of the Springs this fall. It was a drive out there, but boy did they have things for us to do and see!! Highlights included:
hm…i totally forgot to post this. oops.
We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend with all the Franciscos in NM. Eric and Mary were there on their summer trip across America, and Debs was home from college - we had to go to be with everyone once again!
Emotionally this was a big trip for us [...]
Geneva’s recent favorite word is “fantastic.” She says it with a huge emphasis on the “tas” syllable and then erupts into giggles. She’s recently taken to saying “the Francisco’s are fanTAStic,” which makes us giggle as well. Last month one of said fantastic Franciscos graduated from Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, GA and the [...]
We were so blessed to have “Mimi” and “Auntie Bina” here with us to celebrate the second birthday of our little blessing! Geneva loves to cook, and helps in the kitchen as much as we let her, so this year I elected to involve her in the process so we all made cookies instead of [...]
Trip to Malibu
Posted in Holidays on Apr 28th, 2009
Michael’s firm sent us to Malibu for the weekend, where we were able to relax on the beach, play in the ocean, and visit with wonderful friends and family. What a gift from the Lord to us!
Books were on the top of our Christmas lists this year.
Michael was excited to receive John Frame’s books on theology:
Geneva loves to sit and explore her new animal book, Zoo-ology. It’s almost bigger than she is and is jammed with vibrant illustrations of every kind of animal! A favorite!
I am enthralled with my new treasure: [...]
